Previously located in Carrollton and known as the JEM Beverage Co., they opened their larger Pilot Point facility this past summer as they needed more space to produce more vodka, whiskey, and gin.
In the main store and tasting room, Western Son had two mixed drinks made up for us to sample and AK & I both chose the Prickly Pear margarita, which was really quite nice. We were then taken back on our tour of the distillery. I don’t want to give away all their secrets but Western Son uses yellow corn to make their vodka and distill it ten times for a very clean taste.
I highly recommend a trip out to Western Son. The tour was informative, and they are happy to let you sample any of their products and share drink recipes. I got to try some of their seasonal bourbon cream while there and ended up purchasing a bottle of it. (Delicious in coffee!) They often have live music on the weekends, so check their Facebook page for details before you go. They are usually available for tours on weekends from 12pm to 6pm.
Western Son is located at 217 W Division St. Pilot Point, Texas 76258
